You can’t change your nature! Gennaro Gattuso is a perfect illustration of this.

In February 2024,

Gennaro Gattuso was sacked from his position as coach of Olympique de Marseille. With an average of only 1.31 points taken per Ligue 1 match since his arrival in September 2023, the Italian technician left with the second worst record since the 2012-2013 season, behind the Spaniard Michel (1.25).

However, the former tough midfielder always managed to contain himself in public during his time in Marseille. His bad habits quickly returned. As evidenced by his altercation with a journalist after the match between his club Hadjuk Split and Havnar Boltefelag (Faroe Islands) in the Conference League. “What about the first half? Are you only asking me about the negative things? Come on, answer.”the 46-year-old Italian coach got carried away at a press conference.

Gattuso sees red

“Talk about the positive things first, then the negative things.”Gattuso then demanded. You and I, we’re starting off badly, you know. You and I, we’re starting off on the wrong foot. For 60 minutes we played incredible football and you’re asking me why we played badly for 30 minutes?

For this second qualifying round for the Conference League, Hadjuk Split drew (0-0) on the pitch of Havnar Boltefelag. The Croatians having won at home in the first leg (2-0), they qualified for the next round, where they will face the Slovakian club Ružomberok.
