Governor Gavin Newsom has responded to President Elect Donald Trump blaming him for the horrible fires plaguing California. As fires rage across the city of Los Angeles, Donald took to his Truth Social social media platform on Wednesday (January 8) to diss the governor of the state. “Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” he alleged. The governor’s press office denied the existence of such a declaration in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He was personally asked about the comments during an interview. Keep reading to find out more… Appearing on CNN, Gavin noted just how serious the situation was. “People are literally fleeing. People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools. Families completely torn asunder. Churches burned down. This guy wanted to politicize it. I have a lot of thoughts, and I know what I want to say. I won’t,” he said. The governor continued, praising President Joe Biden for his support: “I stood next to the President of the United States of America today, and I was proud to be with Joe Biden, and he had the backs of every single person in this community. He didn’t play politics and try to divide any of us.” He shared the interview clip on X, writing that he and his team will “continue to focus on what matters: saving lives and putting out these unprecedented fires.” Our continued thoughts go out to everyone in California at the moment.
