Gayle King is defending pop singer Justin Timberlake following his recent DWI arrest.
On a recent episode of CBS Mornings, King said, “Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy. Listen, this is clearly a mistake — I bet nobody knows it more than he.”
Sag Harbor Police Department released a statement saying the singer was pulled over because he “was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel.”
At the time, the arresting officer had no idea who Timberlake was and treated him like any other member of the public.
Timberlake’s team says they will fight the Driving While Intoxicated charge.
“He’s not an irresponsible person, he’s not reckless, he’s not careless,” she said after admitting he made a stupid mistake. “Clearly this is not a good thing but he knows that.”
King made it clear that driving while under the influence is never okay.
