2 George Clooney has an ultimatum for Donald Trump… and it’s pretty brilliant!!
The actor went on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night to promote his new movie Wolfs. During their sit-down, longtime late-night host Jimmy Kimmel asked Clooney about the op-ed he wrote this past summer for the New York Times. You may remember that one — in it, Clooney reacted to Joe Biden‘s disastrous presidential debate against Trump and called on the Democrats to move on from President Biden and let a new candidate take on the Apprentice alum in November.
Obviously, the Democrats eventually did just that, and paved the way for Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz to take over. And so, naturally, Kimmel wanted to know Clooney’s thoughts on whether his op-ed impacted that decision!

Kimmel asked the ER alum whether the op-ed was one of the deciding factors in getting the Democrats to move on from President Biden:
“It had an enormous impact on the presidential election, right?”
But humbly, the A-list actor tried to downplay his impact:
“I don’t know that that’s true. The bottom line is that it’s very hard to let go of power and President Biden did something really extraordinary, really extraordinary, and so honestly, that’s what should be focused on.”
But here’s where the real story starts! See, after Clooney’s writing popped up in the NYT back in late June, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social and BLASTED Amal Clooney‘s man!! The 78-year-old former Prez called Clooney a “fake movie actor” and said that he ought to “get out of politics and go back to television.” Yikes!!
Kimmel asked about that, too. And George had the PERFECT response to The Donald’s wish:
“You know, I will if he does. That’s a trade-off I’d do.”
Brilliant!
Kimmel joked that Clooney’s offer could wind up backfiring if Trump actually takes him up on it:
“Could’ve gone very badly.”
To which George laughed and joked back:
“It could still go badly.”
Ha!! TBH, we’d be willing to part with Clooney if it meant losing Trump, too. Sorry, George! LOLz!
