George Clooney Reveals Why Wife Amal Missed Opening Night of His New Broadway Play

George Clooney‘s wife Amal was noticeably absent from his big Broadway debut.

The 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor celebrated the official red carpet opening of his play Good Night, and Good Luck on Thursday (April 3) at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City.

While several of his famous friends and former co-stars attended the opening, Amal, 47, skipped the big event.

While appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert back in February, George said they relocated their family to NYC as he worked on the play.

“They love being here,” George said at the time. “I mean, come on, how do you not love this? It’s New York City.”

“Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule because you’re working at night,” he added. “You get to see the kids during the day, so it’s okay.”

Good Night, and Good Luck is a stage adaptation of George‘s award-winning movie of the same name, which he wrote and directed. Check out the official production photos.
