We’re still waiting to see just when the devil of Hell’s Kitchen is ready to slink out of the shadows and into the light of Disney+ with the arrival of one of Marvel’s most anticipated new shows, Daredevil: Born Again. But Marvel Studios took to the show floor of New York Comic Con today to give us a tiny tease of just what Matt (and his greatest foe) will look like when they’re ready to do so.
To kick off the first day of New York Comic Con Marvel’s booth at the convention let fans get up close and personal with the latest version of the Daredevil suit that will be seen in Born Again, alongside one of Wilson Fisk’s own suits (decidedly fancier, if a little less superheroic).
New York Comic Con 2024: Daredevil: Born Again Daredevil Suit
Returning to the red and black color palette after Matt’s brief appearance in She-Hulk gave us a yellow-hued classic take on the suit, this design is, of course, highly reminiscent of the one we saw throughout Netflix’s own Daredevil series. Arguably the point, considering part of the reason we’ve been waiting so long for this show is Marvel had to go back to the proverbial drawing board and re-tool it to lean more on the format and tone established in Netflix’s spin on Daredevil.
New York Comic Con 2024: Daredevil: Born Again Wilson Fisk Suit
Next to Matt’s new threads, one of Wilson Fisk’s many shiny suits was also on display, albeit a little less exciting. Sure looks like one of the many choices of swanky threads Wilson can pull out of that giant walk-in closet of his! Perhaps the most interesting detail in Fisk’s suit are the badges on his lapel: a small American flag, and a red apple to presumably represent New York City.
There have been a few storylines across Kingpin’s comic history where he has skirted legal repercussions for his criminal activity by running for office, and we know this is something the MCU is building up to as well. The post-credits scene for Echo showed Fisk overhearing a news program talking about the upcoming NYC mayoral elections and the lack of a strong forerunner, teasing his own inevitable foray into the race. A flag and apple pin might not tell us much, but Fisk showing a little patriotism certainly sits out of his usual stylistic choices, so they definitely seem like an acquiescence to politics.
We’ll have to wait and see just how ambitious Fisk’s political career gets when Daredevil: Born Again finally hits Disney+ sometime next year.
