Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has provided a fresh update on the future of Mason Greenwood.

The striker is still a Manchester United player – on loan at Getafe – but it looks like the Reds will be trying to cash in on him this summer.

Greenwood, 22, has enjoyed a fine campaign in Spain and may want to stay there next season. He has scored eight goals and registered five assists in 30 appearances.

It is thought that Greenwood’s performances this season have led to interest from some of Spain’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, which would lessen Getafe’s chances of keeping the forward.

Speaking to reporters this weekend, Bordalas gave little away when asked about the future of Greenwood.

“We haven’t talked yet,” Bordalas said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo. “He’s in the same situation. Now we’re focused on finishing the season with the best possible feelings for everyone. When it’s decided it will be time to get to work and we will see if Mason can continue with us for another year. The club and the fans are very happy to have had Mason this season.”

It would be an unpopular decision to bring Greenwood back to United and I think the club is aware of that. Surely the best option available to United is to cash in on him this summer.
