Barcelona’s stellar start to the new season has raised many eyebrows across Europe, especially given the way almost all of the players have stepped up to the plate whenever given the chance.

Quite naturally, this has attracted many clubs across Europe, who are eyeing moves for Barcelona’s obsolete players either in January or in the summer of 2025.

Fermin Lopez has already been courted by three top European clubs, including Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool.

And now, it appears Eric Garcia, too, has joined the list of Barcelona players being linked with a move away from Catalonia in the near future.

Girona, Real Sociedad interested in Garcia

According to a recent report from SPORT, Girona and Real Sociedad are keeping close tabs on Garcia and would be interested in acquiring his services.

The interest from Sociedad had surfaced earlier in the week, but it seems Girona have also now entered the race for the 23-year-old.

Although Barcelona maintain that they are not looking to sell any player in January, the club are still facing obstacles in their bid to return to the 1:1 rule.

This could hinder their registration of new signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. Keeping that in mind, the club could be tempted to sanction one or two sales in order to raise revenue.

This situation has greatly attached Girona, who had signed Garcia on a loan-deal in 2023. The Spaniard did not disappoint either, emerging as a reliable defensive option under Michel.

Sociedad, meanwhile, were linked with a summer move for the former Man City starlet, but the transfer did not materialise.

But these two La Liga clubs have retained interest in the Barcelona defender, who has been quite handy for Hansi Flick due to his versatility.

Indeed, the Spaniard has operated in a defensive midfield role a few times this season. However, his prospects of becoming Barcelona’s first-choice centre-back remain bleak, especially with Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen nearing their recovery.

Keeping that in mind, it will be interesting to see whether or not Barcelona sanction the sale of the former Man City youth prodigy in January.
