Thanks to an express hat-trick from its scorer Artem Dovbyk, Girona slapped Sevilla (5-1) to regain the lead in La Liga from Real Madrid on Sunday evening. The Catalans have one more match.

After coming up against Almeria, the red lantern, without scoring a goal (0-0), Girona completely revived by winning 5-1 against Sevilla, Sunday evening in Catalonia. The Blanquivermells thus regain the leadership of La Liga with one point more than Real Madrid, who have one game less.

The Sevillians opened the scoring from the start with reserve striker Isaac Romero (10th), but the Gironistes’ Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk did very well by scoring a hat-trick in six minutes (13th, 15th, 19th). The player recruited for 7 million euros last summer joins Jude Bellingham at the top of the scorers’ rankings with 14 goals.

The other Ukrainian international Viktor Tsygankov (56th) and understudy Cristhian Stuani (89th) increased the score in the second half for the incredible Girona FC owned by the City Football Group and the brother of Pep Guardiola. Michel Sanchez’s men continue with a meeting against another poorly ranked side, Celta de Vigo. Sevilla is 17th.
