Even though Funke Akindele is the Queen of the Box Office, the Nollywood actress and filmmaker still looks to her Maker to bless her creations.

The mother of twins took to her Instagram page to share a photo of her heading to a movie location as she penned a heartfelt prayer to God. She asked Him to bless her hustle as she prayed not to work in vain.

“Oh Lord!! Please bless my hustle!! Mi o ni se lasan lagbara Olorun!! AMEN!! Have a fabulous day guys”.

Funke Akindele is currently the Queen of Box office movies in Africa. Her last work, A Tr!be Called Judah, premiered in cinemas in December 2023 and broke a box office record within 21 days of its release. This made it the first Nollywood film to gross N1bn.

The movie’s success surpassed the actress’ previous films Battle on Buka Street (N668.4m) and Omo Ghetto (N636.1m), which currently sit as the second and third highest-grossing films at the Nigerian box office, respectively.

Her groundbreaking achievement made her the recipient of a brand-new car at her event.

Last month, she received the Silverbird Lifetime Achievement Award, which she dedicated to her fans and loved ones.

Two weeks back, the movie star announced her new film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, set for release this December. The actress, however, failed to give more info about the movie, especially if it will be in cinemas first or on streaming platforms.

Everybody Loves Jenifa may not be unconnected to the comedy franchise Jenifa, which metamorphosed into The Return of Jenifa, and a TV series, Jenifa’s Diary.

Last year, Funke Akindele, as well as Mo Abudu, and Ayo Makun topped the list of highest-grossing movie producers in Nigeria.

In a list compiled by Top Charts Africa, Mo Abudu, Funke Akindele, and Ayo Makun were said to have grossed over N1 billion in movies.
