Goldberg gets candid.
Last month, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther cited WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg as his all-time favorite wrestler. As it turns out, that statement was a lie, as Gunther later called Goldberg a “one trick pony” at WWE Bad Blood. Gunther also questioned Goldberg’s parenting skills, while his son Gage sat beside him in the crowd.
Upset by Gunther’s remarks, Goldberg hopped the barricade looking to confront “The Ring General.” He didn’t make it too far, however, before security swarmed around him. During a recent episode of the CarCast podcast, Goldberg addressed his tense interaction with Gunther (H/T to F4WOnline.com for the transcription).
“I should have known, right? I should have known somebody was going to try to mess with me,” Goldberg said. “In Atlanta, no less. We were having a great time and then, yeah, Gunther. I don’t want to make anything more of it than it was. But you know me, dude. I’m not going to just sit there and let some dude talk s***, period. End of story.
“So what started out to be an innocent attendance of a pay-per-view turned out to be being insulted by one of their current champions. I don’t care where we were, I would have done the same thing anywhere we were. But it being in Atlanta, kind of my adopted hometown — you know, I ain’t dead yet, man. Come on. As long as I’m breathing, don’t ever talk s*** about me, and especially my family. So when he brought like Gage into it and me being a dad, that was it. It was nothing more than that.”
Though Goldberg was held back by security at WWE Bad Blood, Sami Zayn found an opening to intervene on Goldberg’s behalf by attacking Gunther from behind. Gunther eventually fled the scene, but not before Goldberg exclaimed “You’re next!”
