Goldberg isn’t looking at working a retirement match in the near future.

The former WCW Champion was rumoured to be following in the footsteps of Ric Flair. He was said to be looking at a last match, with rumours that the bout could take place in Israel.

He last wrestled when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022. Goldberg has had conversations with AEW boss Tony Khan about a return to the ring. However, he does not look likely to set foot in the ring any time soon.

Goldberg spoke with 93.7 The Ticket, and was asked his the status of his final match. The former Universal Champion revealed that the bout is “on the back burner”. This is due to him focusing on being a father and husband for the time being, and prepping his son for a move to college.

“Oh God who knows man, I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I’ve kind of put that on the back burner. Right now, I’ve segued into being a dad first and foremost. Well, you know, dad and husband, and a car host. I’m just having fun at my garage, man. So, I really don’t have a lot of time right now to dedicate to prepping for a retirement match.”

“You know as well as I do, when you were a senior in high school and you were preparing to make that transition to go to college and play football, that was one of the most tumultuous times of your life. I don’t know if that’s the right word to use to describe it, but challenging, you know? So, I’m trying to do everything I can in my power 24/7 to get our boy prepared for the next phase of his life.”
