Goldy Locks is ready to make magic with her band’s next two music videos.

The former TNA star has her own band, the Goldy Locks Band, which recently released a new music video for their track “Just Say Yes.” The funky homage to the ’70s was months in the making, as Goldy Locks said she spent several months saving items that they could use for the video shoot. She said part of her overall brand is how to save money and make things stretch, and it was no different for the video.

Goldy Locks on coming up with ‘Just Say Yes’

“[I was] very involved with the treatment for that video. We actually were driving on tour and we were in the bus. And I love to get my bandmates’ opinions and ideas on things. And were brainstorming on what would ‘Just Say Yes’ be? Of course, the obvious thing will be, ‘Oh marriage and proposals.’ And it’s like ‘That’s enough of that.’ We already had a song like that years ago. ‘Oh, let’s do used car sales, sleazy man and maybe you could be the sleazy woman.’ ‘Okay.’ And then… ‘Let’s do retro.’ So, we had this great idea for that, but then the time you realize, ‘All the retro cars and how is is gonna look?’ You know, that’s so much to look authentic, that we are like, let’s take the 70’s vibe, and then what else could we do?

“So, it literally took six months of collecting sh*t to get all that stuff. And of course, I call my dad who is more than happy to go dig into the cupboards and like, ‘Oh I got this lunch box from the 70’s.’ He couldn’t wait to break out all his freaking treasures. So, the products in there, the muff magic and all that… Those were my bandmate Rod Sailor’s ideas. I’m like, ‘Give me some dirty funny names of products and soaps and vacuum accessories.’ And they all came up with funny stuff. And then, I just went to the Dollar Store and bought all the junk and printed out.”

Goldy Locks on the cost of the video

Goldy Locks is known for her commitment to finding a good deal. She has appeared on TLC’s Extreme Cheapskates and Call in the Cheapskates, so she was asked how much she tried to save to film her own music video.

“That video should have been around $40k. It wasn’t. And the way I saved money was, we got a lot of our stuff out of trash bins and trash cans and dumpsters and bins. All of the clothing was second-hand. A lot of vintage, of some vintage stores that I traded with. Saved money there. The production crew gave me a one-time slide-by,” she explained.

Now, the band is working on two new videos and has started a GoFundMe to help with costs. She isn’t getting any production favors this time around, so the money raised will help pay for the video shoot and its related costs.

“I Didn’t Know”

Goldy Locks is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with James, a fellow singer, and The Lacs, a popular country-western rap duo from Georgia. The Lacs impressed her with their lyrics over a stock rap beat she found online, noting she had tears in her eyes after hearing it. Now, they are finding ways to bring the treatment for the music video to the screen.

Mickie will be playing the other woman in the video. And it’s like this ‘sexy-rain’ machine we just got done making. [We’re] saving money. To rent a rainmaker would’ve been $5k for the day. We made our own on a PVC pipe. [Our drummer] watched some YouTube videos that we watched and sprinkler heads.

“It’s on two poles; it’s 20 feet long. Went on Facebook, said, ‘I need a hand, DM me for details and payment.’ Ten people Dmed. ‘Hey we need somebody to stand over the holes and work this rain-maker. I got this much an hour.’ I’ve got this beautiful girl, woman, who is breaking into the film industry and really trying to get credits on her IMDB,” she noted.

Goldy Locks on putting yourself out there

Goldy Locks once again noted the importance of putting yourself out there and asking for help, no matter what you are trying to accomplish.

“It’s so amazing how many people out there want to be a part of something or want to help you. But if you sit there jerking off in your bedroom and not telling anybody about it, then how’s anything going to get done. So that’s why I’m telling you,” she added. “If you are listening to this, whatever it is that you want to do, be inspired. Be full of joy. Say your prayers to the god. The angels. The Universe. Whatever you believe in and just say, ‘Hey, will you help me?’ And holy sh*t, wait till you see what happens. Magic. It’s awesome.”
