Unknown to him that he would be a victim of the popular refrain, “every day for the thief one day for the owner,” a notorious electricity cable thief and vandal has been caught right in the act, but this time – dead!

The deceased whose case also exemplifies the popular saying of “one day, the monkey would go to the market but fail to return” was the exact case of the Gombe cable thief.

Arewa PUNCH gathered that the notorious electricity cables vandal and thief didn’t factor in the fact that power would return soon to the electricity cable pole of his target following the recent three-week blackout that threw the entire region into darkness as he set out for his nefarious act that fateful night of judgment.

However, typical of nemesis and its inexplicable ways of judgment, the yet-to-be-identified cable thief was electrocuted to death in Gombe State, leaving his head dismembered from the electricity pole.

An eyewitness narrated to our correspondent that the alleged thief who was unaware that power would soon be restored, especially to the pole at which cables had caught his fancy climbed a high-tension pole linked to the Gombe Independent National Electoral Commission’s zonal store.

According to the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, “the death was unfortunate,” noting that the victim was electrocuted on the high tension.

Abdullahi continued, “The Police on duty saw someone trying to cut high tension cable that linked the pole to the transformer at Independent National Electoral Commission’s Zonal Store in Gombe.

“He had already cut one of the armoured cables and in the process of cutting the second one, he got electrocuted,” the Police spokesman told Arewa PUNCH as he shared with our correspondent pictures showing the gory sight of the headless body and remains of the thief and vandal hanging precariously atop the pole.
