The former chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rambi Ayala, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.
The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, who welcomed the former lawmaker into APC emphasised that all APC members are equal and will receive equal rights and treatment, regardless of when they joined the party.
Arewa PUNCH reports that Ayala defected to APC after losing his bid to contest the House of Representatives’ primary.
“We decided to rejoin the APC to complement Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s efforts in providing the dividends of democracy across the nook and crannies of the state to our people,” Ayala explained.
He praised Yahaya as the “architect of modern Gombe” and assured him of his support in taking the state to greater heights.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Fawu, described Rambi Ayala’s defection as a ‘win for democracy,’ adding that it strengthens the APC’s presence in Tangale Waja. “With the coming of Hon. Rambi onboard, APC is getting more grounds in Tangale Waja,” he said.
Hon. Isiyaku Abdullahi Jarman Akko, speaking on behalf of the State APC Secretariat, described Rambi Ayala is a “game changer” in the Tangale Waja political arena.
Local government chairpersons, including Madam Eglah Idris, Hon. Iliya Sulaiman, and Hon. Fatima Binta Bello also hailed Rambi Ayala’s defection, assuring him of their support in advancing the party’s interests.
