Gombe State Police Commissioner, Hayatu Usman, alongside his management team, decorated no fewer than eight newly promoted senior officers on Tuesday.
Usman urged the officers to eschew corruption and emphasised the need for them to maintain professionalism.
The promoted officers include one Chief Superintendent of Police, Nasiru Abdullahi, a Divisional Police Officer in charge of Deba Police Station, who was promoted to the new rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. The other seven Superintendents of Police were promoted to the new rank of Chief Superintendent of Police. They are: CSP Muhammad Audu, attached to SID; CSP Joel Dan-Gombe, attached to SCID; CSP Ali Madaki, DPO Amada Police Station; CSP Abubakar Helma, DPO Kwami Police Station; CSP Ahmed Ibrahim, Gombe Area Crime Officer D/Kowa; CSP Ajawo Yunusa Babatunde, attached to SCID; CSP Alh. Bakari Kama, DPO Tula Division; and CSP Alhassan Jimo Jami’u, attached to DFA.
The Commissioner said, “I wish to urge the officers to lead by example, respect human rights, shun any form of corruption, and carry out police duties professionally at all times as you assume the new rank with a lot of responsibilities.”
While congratulating the officers on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Usman commended the Chairman of the Police Service Commission for their merit-based promotions.
The newly promoted officers expressed their gratitude to the IGP and the PSC Chairman for recognising their merit and reassured their commitment to their responsibilities.
