Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Thursday pledged his loyalty to the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party on the other hand passed a vote of confidence on the governor and overturned the indefinite suspension issued against some of his (Alia) appointees and other loyalists.
Our correspondent reports that both supporters of the governor and APC executives in the state had been at daggers drawn with each faction suspending the other at the slightest provocation even at the ward levels.
Speaking with journalists after his meeting with the state executives and 23 local government party chairmen in Makurdi on Thursday, Gov Alia said the meeting became necessary to correct certain frivolities being spread in the social media and for him to pledge his loyalty to the APC.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of APC, Austin Agada, told journalists at the end of the emergency meeting that the suspension issued to all party members in the state had been lifted and the party further passed a vote of confidence on Governor Alia.
Agada further remarked that the party has confidence in the ability of the governor to deliver on his campaign promises and they were strongly behind him.
