Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State recently celebrated the marriage of his first daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, to Arinze Ibekwe, a native of Odoje village in Onitsha North Local Government Area.
The traditional wedding ceremony took place on Saturday at the Governor’s hometown in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, with a host of dignitaries, government officials, and traditional rulers in attendance.
Soludo expressed his joy on his verified Facebook page, noting that this marriage marks a significant milestone as it is the first in his family in 142 years. He attributed this to the previous scarcity of female children in the family until he was blessed with four daughters. The Governor shared that through this marriage, he feels he has gained a new son.
He wrote, “In the presence of my family, kinsmen, friends, and my in-laws from Onitsha, I gave out my lovely daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, to her heartthrob after all traditional rites had been met and certified in line with the customs of the Isuofia community.”
Soludo also wished the couple a blessed and fruitful marriage, urging them to uphold both traditional and Christian matrimonial rites.
Speaking after the ceremony, Oseloka Oranusi, a spokesperson for the groom’s family, assured the Soludos that their daughter would be well cared for.
Among the notable attendees were Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Senator Andy Ubah, House of Representatives member Pascal Agbodike, former House of Representatives member Hon. Okwudili Ezenwankwo, and Anambra State Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze, among others.
