The inducted recordings, each at least 25 years old, will be honored at the Grammy Museum and Recording Academy’s Grammy Hall Of Fame Gala on May 16, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. The Gala will also pay tribute to this year’s label honoree, Republic Records, with performers to be announced at a later date.
In addition to the above mentioned, the artist inductees include Santana’s, Big Star, Clara Ward, Eddie Floyd, Emmylou Harris, Fela Kuti & Afrika 70, Geeshie Wiley, Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Linda Martell, and Luther Vandross. Genre’s range from Santana’s Latin Rock, Clara Ward’s gospel, Emmylou Harris’ country rock to Eddie Floyd’s ’60s R&B, Big Star’s power pop and the pioneering country blues of Geeshie Wiley, whose haunting “Last Kind Words Blues” was recorded in 1930.
