Great-O-Khan Retires KOPW Title, Stipulation Added To Match At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19

Great-O-Khan retired the KOPW Championship at NJPW‘s Road to Tokyo Dome event on December 22.

O-Khan faced Taichi at the event, and the match ended in a double knockout draw. O-Khan then announced that he was retiring the title. He stated that the New Japan Rambo at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 would be a number one contender’s match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

O-Khan then commented on the situation on social media.

今年KOPWだけで7回、新日本トップクラスのタイトルマッチ数をこなしても叶えられなかったことがある。

余の実力不足だ。認めよう。

NJPW introduced the KOPW title in August 2020. Toru Yano was the inaugural champion. Chase Owens, Minoru Suzuki, Shingo Takagi, Taichi, Taiji Ishimori, and Yuya Uemura, among others, held the title. Great-O-Khan won the title by defeating Uemura at NJPW Dominion on June 9.
