Antoine Griezmann has never hidden his attraction to the United States and MLS. An interest which could well materialize shortly.
Although he has chosen to hang up his tricolor cleats, Antoine Griezmann is still far from having bowed out of football. Under contract with Atlético de Madrid until 2026, the 33-year-old striker will probably not end his career with the Matelassiers. The appeal from the United States remains more relevant than ever for him.
The trend is all the more significant as two of his closest friends in the French team – Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud – are now enjoying happy days in MLS, the North American football elite – in the ranks of Los Angeles FC. A base that could perfectly suit the person concerned.
In Los Angeles in 2025?
“ It will be his choice, but indeed, there are a lot of rumors circulating on the other side of the Atlantic », admits Hugo Lloris this Sunday during a Téléfoot subject dedicated to Antoine Griezmann. “ We would be delighted to welcome him with open arms here in LA. We know that there have already been contacts. It would be great to meet all three of us here with Hugo », adds Olivier Giroud.
Under an agreement with the Colchoneros during his last lease extension, Antoine Griezmann will be free to fly wherever he wants next summer. In June 2023, the native of Mâcon reaffirmed his interest in the USA. “ Yes, MLS remains a possible objective », he then whispered. In the 2024 offseason, LAFC took a chance. There is no doubt that the Californian franchise will return to action in 2025.
