Governor Sherrif Oborevwori of Delta State
A socio-political group comprising leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has lauded the governor of the state, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, “for restoring nightlife” to the various communities in the locality following the street lights initiative put in place by the present administration.
The group also commended the state government “for embarking on the Water Storm project to tackle flooding in the area.”
The commendations were contained in a communiqué issued by the group at the end of a town hall meeting organized by the Office of the Senior Political Adviser to the governor and the Uvwie Local Government chapter of the PDP in Effurun, jointly signed by Hon. Rire Oketera, Leader of Uvwie LGA Legislative arm and Hon. Gibson Akporehe, a former member of the state House of Assembly.
Dignitaries in attendance at the town hall meeting held on Tuesday included the chairman of the bPDP in Uvwie Local Government Area, Mr Efe Okoledo, the Senior Political Adviser to the governor, Chief Emmanuel Edesiri Aguariavwodo, and President General, Uvwie Improvement Union, Chief Hope Erute, among others.
The group “specifically acknowledged the governor’s good performance and transformation of Delta State through his MORE Agenda and resolved to endorse him for two terms in office till 2031.”
The communiqué partly reads, “The people of Uvwie have enough reasons to reciprocate the gestures of Governor Oborevwori by returning him, come 2027.
“To whom much is given, much is also expected of him. We are supporting our governor for the good work he is doing not only in Uvwie but in the entire state. We are not only supporting for now but also for the second term, which will last till 2031.”
Speaking further on the rationale behind the vote of confidence passed on the governor by the group, the Chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, who is also the Political Leader of Uvwie LGA, Chief Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, told newsmen that “he has done so well in less than two years in office by not only being faithful in executing his MORE Agenda but also by not borrowing a kobo since he assumed office.”
He said Governor Oborevwori, who he described as a “Good Resources Manager,” has enabled a lot of Deltans to realize their potential by creating the necessary platforms for them through various forms of empowerment.”
He added, “Governor Oborevwori is focused, detribalized and his developmental policies cut across the entire state.”
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, acknowledged Governor Oborevwori “for his commitment to quality projects.”
This, he said, prompted his administration to employ the services of Julius Berger Nigeria Limited for the execution of the Effurun/Warri Flyover Projects.
