The 29th duel between Manchester City and Liverpool, led by Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp, ended in a draw at Anfield (1-1), this Sunday in the Premier League.

The opportunity for the Spaniard to pay tribute to his German counterpart, who will leave the Mersey club at the end of the season.

“He will be back sooner or later”

“My last clash with Jürgen Klopp? For this period perhaps, but he will be back sooner or later,” Guardiola declared at a press conference.

And to add: “He made me get the best out of myself. He made me a better coach and made us a better team. »

Guardiola’s wish

For Guardiola, the Stuttgart’s departure is a great loss for football. “I would like him to come back soon, because football needs personalities like him”confided the former FC Barcelona coach.

Klopp’s departure from Liverpool will signal the end of an era, but there is no doubt that Guardiola, whose contract with the Skyblues runs until June 2025, will continue to make City shine.

And who knows, maybe their paths will cross again one day…
