Suspected gunmen on Wednesday kidnapped and killed the All Progressives Congress Chairman of Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Bako Bala.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Special Adviser to Kebbi State governor on Television and Radio, Zaidu Bala said that the armed men kidnapped him in his hometown and the process shot him and abandoned him in the pool of his blood.
Bala added that the APC Suru Local government chair was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi but unfortunately died on Wednesday at the hospital from the wounds sustained in the shooting.
In a related development, bandits allegedly stormed Matseri village in the Bunza Local Government Area of the state and kidnapped one person.
A source who spoke with PUNCH Online from the village confirmed that a young man who is now receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi was shot in the process.
Meanwhile, all efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nafiu Abubakar, were abortive as he neither picked up his calls nor responded to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
Kebbi State is one of the North West states in the country currently facing insecurity especially that of banditry.
