GUNTHER Addresses Lack of Involvement on WWE Television

GUNTHER’s reign as the WWE Intercontinental Champion already cemented him as an all-time great in the company, as he held the title for 666 days before dropping it to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40. He has largely been absent from WWE television barring this week on RAW and now he has addressed the same.

During the King and Queen of The Ring Premium Live Event, fans witnessed an electrifying showdown between Randy Orton and GUNTHER in the finals of the King of The Ring tournament. Ultimately, it was The Ring General who emerged victorious.

Following his win, GUNTHER made another appearance on WWE television before disappearing completely for the entire duration of the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event build.

While speaking to Gorilla Position, GUNTHER was asked about his notable absence from WWE television except for a vignette on Monday Night RAW. GUNTHER expressed his preference for the principle of “less is more,” believing it applies to most situations in life. He noted that after winning the King of the Ring, it was clear he would be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.

Given this clarity, there was no need for him to be heavily involved before Money in the Bank. He appreciated having the luxury of stepping back for a few weeks to observe the unfolding events and drama, particularly with the Judgment Day, Seth Rollins’ return, and the chaos involving CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. He found it all quite amusing and enjoyed watching it unfold.

“Well, overall I’m a big fan of ‘less is more.’ I think it’s a rule that applies in most occasions in life. I think in general it makes sense right now because after I won the King of the Ring, it was clear that I would be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. To be fair, there was not really a need to be involved that much before Money in the Bank. I’ve had the luxury of leaning back for a few weeks and just looking at the things that happened, and looking at all the drama that went on with the Judgment Day and Seth being back, and then all the chaos with Punk and Drew at the end. It was amusing to watch, I have to say, and yeah, I enjoyed it.”

Now that GUNTHER is set to challenge Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, it is expected fans will see him appear regularly on WWE television and build his feud with Priest, so we’ll have to see who will ultimately triumph at SummerSlam next month.
