GUNTHER secured the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and went on to become the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in history. He had been ruling WWE with an iron fist as the leader of Imperium, but things are different now as GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser are both singles stars. In fact, he has now confirmed the status of Imperium following Kaiser’s singles run.
Alongside Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, GUNTHER used to strike fear into the hearts of his foes as the leader of Imperium. Vinci was then kicked out of the faction earlier this year.
In the meantime, Ludwig Kaiser got his big break as a singles star, having solid matches against the likes of Sheamus. In fact, he and GUNTHER have not been seen together in a while, let alone compete together.
While speaking to Gorilla Position, GUNTHER was asked about Ludwig Kaiser’s singles run and whether Imperium has run its course. GUNTHER emphasized the importance of Kaiser handling things independently, while maintaining their strong bond and mutual support. He noted that, although they will always stick together when necessary, they don’t need to be seen together on television all the time.
Everyone is aware of their connection, and there’s no reason to doubt its existence. Gunther prefers to handle his matches without help and believes his associate will benefit from doing the same. This approach provides valuable experience and a solid path to follow. Despite their independent efforts, they know they can always rely on each other when things get challenging.
“I think it’s important now that, yeah, he does things on his own. It’s important because, obviously, we’ll always have that bond and stick together when it’s necessary. That won’t change, but that also doesn’t mean we always have to be seen together every minute on television. I think everybody’s aware that there’s a connection, and there’s no reason to assume that it’s not there anymore. I’ve always been big about handling my matches myself without wanting or needing help, and he’s going to do the same now. I think that’s a very good experience to make and a very good path to follow. And yeah, if things get dangerous or difficult for me or for him, we always know we can rely on each other.”
GUNTHER also addressed his lack of involvement on WWE television lately. As for Ludwig Kaiser, he suffered an injury recently and is out of action, so we’ll have to wait and see when he will be able to make his return.
