Few WWE Superstars have been able to connect with the fan base like Sami Zayn. The former NXT Champion has been through quite a lot on the main roster, and he’s been trying to get a match against GUNTHER for a while.
At SummerSlam 2024, Sami Zayn lost the title to Bron Breakker. On the August 12 WWE RAW, Zayn attempted to regain the title in a two out of three falls match, but was unsuccessful. That left many fans to wonder what would be next for the Underdog from the Underground.
Sami Zayn has had his eyes on GUNTHER in recent memory, as he wants a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. After all, Zayn beat GUNTHER for the IC Title at WrestleMania 40. During the September 23 WWE RAW, Zayn had a chance to prove himself as he faced Ludwig Kaiser. After a hard-fought match, Zayn came out with the win after nailing a Helluva Kick.
Sami Zayn was celebrating his win in the ring. GUNTHER made his way out. He grabbed a microphone and didn’t look happy at all. The Ring General said that he’s seen enough, so he teased having the match in Ontario, California. In the end, he was trolling Zayn, and he denied him the match.
During the September 30 WWE RAW, the trolling continued from GUNTHER. He took to the ring, and Zayn came out looking for a match against the World Heavyweight Champion. Zayn accused GUNTHER of hiding after he lost the IC Title at WrestleMania, beacuse he couldn’t show his face “all because your dad made you feel like a loser.” Sami then called GUNTHER a coward, and that caused the Ring General to take Zayn down with a punch.
Then GUNTHER took off his jacket and he backed Zayn into the corner, but then Sami turned it around and nailed an exploder suplex into the corner. GUNTHER avoided a Helluva Kick, and then he nailed a Powerbomb on Zayn to leave him laying in the ring.
GUNTHER then said that Zayn has his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. We do not know when the match will go down, but the Ring General finally said yes.
