Anything can happen in WWE, as there are often no re-takes. Superstars only get one shot to get things right in the ring, and mistakes can live on for fans to remember. A botched finish during the 2024 King & Queen of the Ring proved to be significant for Randy Orton and GUNTHER.

At WWE King & Queen of the Ring on May 25, GUNTHER defeated Randy Orton to become the 2024 King of the Ring in the final held in Saudi Arabia. The match drew criticism after it was noticed that Orton’s shoulder was not down during the final three-count. Triple H later addressed the controversy, acknowledging the error but stating that “the referee’s decision is final.”

GUNTHER discussed the botched finish in an interview with Metro. In the end, GUNTHER was okay with this decision, because it made sense, and it also gave them an opportunity to conclude things.

“I was very good with it, because referee’s mistakes happens, and it happens in every sport. It’s part of it. I was very good with it, because referee’s mistakes happens, and it happens in every sport. It’s part of it. It fuels the involvement in what we do, because it’s frustrating for the competitors.”

“It’s frustrating for the fans, because they think they were about to see something else, or something else should have been the end of this match.”

“And I think without, without that happening, the match [at Bash In Berlin] wouldn’t have happened and would not have meant that much.”

While reflecting on the match at Bash in Berlin, GUNTHER said that he has a ton of respect for Randy Orton. When he added in the match’s location, it was a very special occasion for the Ring General.

“I have the utmost respect for Randy, ‘one of the greatest to ever do it.’

“To be in the ring with him on an eye level, and, yeah, put a great professional wrestling match on in that setting, it was a special night.”

GUNTHER is set to take on Sami Zayn with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line during the October 7 WWE RAW. We will have to see how that match turns out, but this is certainly a contest that the Underdog from the Underground fought hard to earn.

In other news, during the September 30 WWE RAW, it was revealed that GUNTHER was a part of a match at a WWE house show where Ilja Dragunov suffered an injury. The Ring General also fired off a savage taunt at Dragunov. He will be out for up to nine months following an injury, but odds are he will make his return with even more motivation to get his hands on GUNTHER once again.
