Morocco lacked realism against Ukraine on Saturday. Achraf Hakimi seemed dejected after the defeat of the Atlas Lions.
After its chaotic (but victorious) match against Argentina in the opening of the Olympic tournament, Morocco lost Saturday against Ukraine (2-1). With a numerical advantage shortly after the hour mark, the Atlas Lion Cubs did not take advantage.
Worse, they conceded a goal in added time, in the 98th minute of play, while they were pushing to snatch victory. After the match, Achraf Hakimi did not hide his disappointment.
“I don’t have many explanations. We lacked experience, we didn’t manage to finish the actions even though we had a lot of chances. I think we should have scored them.”said the Paris Saint-Germain player on
Arryadia TV.
Hakimi regrets Morocco’s lack of realism
“Tournaments like this are high-level competitionscontinues the Moroccan right-back. When you create so many chances, you have to score one or two goals, otherwise the other teams can also score against us and you can lose the match like today.”
In Group B of this Olympic tournament, all teams have the same number of points (three). Morocco will therefore play a crucial match on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Iraq, to try to secure its ticket to the quarter-finals. At the same time, Ukraine will face Argentina.
