While he lost his starting place at Borussia Dortmund, the hero of Ivory Coast during the last African Cup of Nations, Sébastien Haller is put on the transfer list.
After winning the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast on February 11, by scoring the coronation goal against Nigeria in front of the Elephants supporters in Abidjan, Sébastien Haller did not return to the competition with Borussia Dortmund. Affected in an ankle, he has missed Borussen’s last five matches and remains unavailable for the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League against PSV, this Wednesday (9 p.m.).
The striker trained at AJ Auxerre lost his place this season at BVB, after the arrival of Niclas Fullkrug. Haller has not scored a goal in 11 appearances in the Bundesliga and two in the Champions League, settling for a double in Pokal. Last year, after recovering from testicular cancer, he finished very strongly by scoring nine goals in the league (until a missed penalty during a disastrous final day for Dortmund).
Haller at 20 million euros?
At 29 years old, Haller could have a change of scenery during the next offseason, since, according to Kicker, the Dortmund leaders have reportedly decided to put the 1.91m striker on the transfer list. The player is under contract until 2026 and will therefore bring in some money (it is estimated at 18 million euros per Transfermarkt). He would make an excellent signing for many top clubs in Europe.
A native of Ris-Orangis, Haller was spotted in Brétigny by AJ Auxerre and was trained in Burgundy, before starting in Ligue 2. But it was by joining Utrecht that he exploded, then shining in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt. West Ham recruited him for 50 million euros in 2019! The former Bleuet did not establish himself in the Premier League and returned to Ajax before joining Dortmund in 2022.
