Alex Hammerstone made a memorable impression during his recent appearances on WWE NXT, becoming the latest TNA star to cross over to the brand. On the September 10th episode of NXT, Hammerstone faced off against NXT North American Champion Oba Femi, and although he didn’t win the match, he returned the following week and secured a victory via count-out against Tony D’Angelo.
During a recent interview on Hitting The Turnbuckle, Hammerstone shared his thoughts on his match with Femi and praised the experience of representing TNA on NXT.
“It was great. The whole experience was phenomenal because I got to come in there as TNA’s Hammerstone and be me, look like me, dress like me, come out to my music, be branded as TNA’s guy. It’s just so cool, it’s such an interesting time in wrestling. To go out there and have a good showing, obviously with that match, I didn’t pick up the win, but at the same time, I believe I represented TNA well, at least well enough to come back the following week and pick up a victory. What a cool feeling, what a cool time in wrestling, and hopefully there’s more to come,” Hammerstone said.
He also spoke highly of his time at the WWE Performance Center, noting the professionalism and respect he received from everyone involved. Hammerstone reflected on how much things have changed since his last visit for a WWE tryout.
“It’s just so cool how far things have come because the level of professionalism and respect I was treated with from everybody there, all the staff, all the coaches, all the producers, there was no element of, ‘This guy’s an outsider, so we’re gonna give him the short end of the stick.’ If anything, it was, ‘This guy’s an outsider, so let’s make sure he has the best experience possible.’ To know that the last time I was in the Performance Center, I was doing forward rolls until I just about puked, so it’s a whole different set of circumstances,” Hammerstone said.
While there’s no official word on whether Hammerstone will return to NXT, he expressed hope for more future appearances.
Hammerstone’s experience on NXT showcased his potential as a crossover star from TNA, and with the level of respect and professionalism he encountered, fans may see more of him in WWE in the future.
