The unexpected downtime, which began over the weekend, disrupted gameplay and sparked a wave of concern and speculation among the game’s dedicated community.
In a recent announcement, the team behind the game confirmed that the app has been restored, assuring players that they can resume their activities. Since then, players have been able to continue their adventures and progress without any reported loss of data.
The Outage
Over the weekend, the Telegram-based game went offline, leaving gamers who interact with the app in exchange for potential rewards devastated and unable to access their accounts. These users, in fear of losing their accounts and potentially being scammed, took to social media to express their frustrations, calling the attention of the developers.
Shortly after, the team acknowledged the outage on X (formerly Twitter), assuring users that they were working to restore the app and resume operations. However, the downtime continued, affecting even the game’s official website, which displayed a “Webpage Not Available” error when accessed.
The crash persisted until Sunday evening, when the developers announced that the game had been fixed, though they did not provide details about the cause of the prolonged downtime. This lack of information led to speculation that the outage was caused by high traffic.
Possible Causes
The game reportedly struggled to handle the traffic generated by its massive user base of over 230 million. These players, eager to check their rankings and rewards, stretched the server beyond its limit, causing it to crash.
Speculators also suggested that other factors, such as server maintenance and security upgrades, could have contributed to the outage. Last week, Hamster Kombat announced that it had added the final level gamers need to complete to qualify for the airdrop upon listing. The latest addition, known as the “Creator level”, requires players to accumulate more than 18 billion coins.
The tap-to-earn game offers various methods for players to collect coins, enabling them to enhance their exchange and boost their hourly profits. Players can engage with its dedicated YouTube channel to earn more coins, with users able to earn up to 100,000 coins for each piece of content viewed on the platform.
