Since its launch, the Telegram-based game has become an internet sensation, with many wondering if it will enter the Guinness World Records as the fastest-growing blockchain-related game.

Hamster Kombat, a new play-to-earn game on Telegram, has taken the internet by storm, reaching 239 million users in only three months. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov made the post on his official channel on Thursday to celebrate the project.

According to Durov, the game grows on a daily basis. The platform sees about 4 to 5 million new users register to play each day. Within 73 days of launch, Hamster hit the 100 million monthly users milestone, making it the fastest-growing digital service ever.

The Game

Hamster officially debuted on Telegram in March 2024, following the launch of Notcoin (NOT), another play-to-earn game. It is designed as a simple game where players tap to earn HMSTR, its native token, and manage a virtual crypto exchange. The game allows players to upgrade their hamsters and complete daily challenges and special missions to win prizes. Hamster also includes educational content about blockchain and digital assets, making it both fun and informative.

Since its launch, the Telegram-based game has become an internet sensation, with many wondering if it will enter the Guinness World Records as the fastest-growing blockchain-related game. Telegram CEO described the game as the “latest internet phenomenon everyone’s talking about”. He pointed out that Hamster’s success is just the beginning of a new wave of mini apps on Telegram.

“As I said a few months back, a new wave of mini apps on Telegram is coming, and Hamster Kombat is now leading the pack. Its amazing growth shows the viral potential of the Telegram mini app platform,” Durov said.

The game’s community-driven approach, relying on user engagement rather than ads, has helped it grow quickly and maintain a loyal user base.

Blockchain Integration

Despite reaching over 239 million users in three months, the project is still looking for ways to increase its presence to compete with established game franchises. Earlier this year, Hamster announced that it had selected The Open Network (TON)  to mint its HMSTR token this month. The game plans to tap into the burgeoning blockchain ecosystem to establish its footprint within the crypto economy.

Telegram CEO Durov sees this expansion plan as a welcome development, adding that the extension of the game to the TON network will introduce blockchain benefits to millions of users. He also believes the move will allow players to trade tokens and make in-game purchases.

The game’s other future plans include the launch of an in-game wallet, new characters, and special events to keep players engaged. These upgrades and development will be starting this month in July.

While the date has not been disclosed yet, the month of July will see the Telegram-based game finally kickstart its Token Generation Event (TGE). This event will likely be accompanied by an airdrop to reward users for their loyalty and contributions to the platform’s growth.

In addition to these upcoming updates, the game’s developers are currently focused on rewarding their community. They plan several giveaways this month.
