The Hamster Kombat team has cited a technical overload citing the reason to delay and they want the aridrop to be as smooth as possible.
Hamster Kombat, the viral tap-to-earn game based on the Telegram network, had all plans to launch its native HMSTR token on the TON blockchain by the end of July. However, just two days to the month-end, the team said that it is still working out on the platform to conduct a large-scale airdrop.
Interestingly, the Hamster Kombat website still shows the July target for the token generation event (TGE). But on Monday, July 29, the developers in a tweet stated that they are unlikely to see the token within the next two days. The Hamset Kombat team stated:
“We are actively working to make it happen. Keep in mind that this is a very complex technical task for all the platforms involved since Hamster Kombat is one of the biggest projects in the industry and can become the biggest airdrop in history.”
The team also stated that such a situation could lead to network overload. Besides, the team also added that they want the airdrop to be as smooth as possible for everyone to receive their tokens. the Hamster Kombat team said that they are working closely with the TON blockchain team in order to build an efficient and robust technical solution for the airdrop.
Although the anonymous development team of Hamster Kombat didn’t specifically state that they had delayed the airdrop, a representative told Decrypt:
“The team is actively working on making the airdrop happen, and they will share the exact date as soon as they can.”
OKX will begin pre-market futures trading for the upcoming HMSTR token, with the feature scheduled to launch on August 1.
About Hamster Kombat
Hamster Kombat is a popular game built within the messaging platform Telegram that rewards players with in-game coins just for tapping on a cartoonish hamster. Besides, users also receive rewards for investing their coins in the upgrade of a fictional crypto exchange.
With the game going viral, it has amassed more than 250 million users in the past couple of months. Its rapid growth has also drawn criticism from government officials along the way.
Similar to the Telegram game Notcoin, Hamster Kombat has announced plans to launch a token on the TON blockchain and distribute tokens to players through an airdrop. Notcoin’s NOT token, which launched in May, rapidly became the most valuable gaming token launch of 2024 by market cap.
Crypto exchange OKX is the latest to join a list of other popular exchanges including Kucoin, Bybit, Bitget, and Gate.io to enable pre-market trading for the token. However, the Hamster Kombat team has yet to disclose the conversion rate from in-game coins to on-chain tokens, making pre-market trading particularly risky.
