FC Barcelona could not have dreamed of a better start under Hansi Flick’s leadership, securing back-to-back victories against Manchester City and Real Madrid in the US pre-season tour.

Adhering to their tradition of beating Real Madrid on American soil, the Catalan giants triumphed over the Merengues with an assertive 2-1 victory.

Several youngsters impressed on the night and Barcelona displayed many positive signs both in and out of possession.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Hansi Flick touched upon the team’s strong performance and the standout players, Pau Victor and Alex Valle.

When asked how it felt to oversee his first-ever Clasico, Hansi Flick professed, “It’s always great to play against Real Madrid.”

When asked to evaluate the team’s level, he conveyed optimism and claimed improvements were visible from the encounter against Manchester City.

“We have improved compared to City. I really liked the way we played when we had the ball. The feeling is very good. It is only a test, but we did very well,” the German argued.

Pau Victor deservedly won the Man of the Match award for his blistering brace. With three goals in two games, he is proving why his €3 million transfer fee was an absolute bargain.

Following his impressive exploits, Flick was asked if having a striker in top form like Pau Victor makes everything easier.

“He has scored three goals in two games. Not bad. He knows how to score and that is good for a striker,” Flick replied.

Despite the possibility of a loan exit, when asked if he would stay, Flick answered, “We’ll see. The door is always open for the first team.”

Alex Valle was another notable performer in the game. The young full-back provided two perfect assists for Pau Victor’s goals and also held his own against Vincius Jr.

When asked what he thought of his performance, the 59-year-old highlighted his ability to play on both flanks and also shed light on Alejandro Balde and Hector Fort’s promising cameos.

“He did a great job, and he can play on the right or the left. Both Balde and Hector did very well too,” he stated.

Highlighting the young talents, Flick concluded, “It’s fantastic to have these 17, 16 and 18-year-old players. They are doing very well and taking advantage of their opportunities.”
