According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona have contacted Bayern Leverkusen over the possibility of signing Jeremie Frimpong.

It is suggested that Hansi Flick has suggested Frimpong as a potential player for the team, and Barcelona have already made an initial offer.

However, as of now, Frimpong has decided to delay any decisions about his future until after the European Championship.

Interestingly enough, though, the outlet has mentioned that Bayer Leverkusen might be willing to consider a deal that involves player exchanges as part of the negotiation for Frimpong’s transfer to Barcelona.

Barcelona’s plan for Frimpong

Despite facing financial challenges due to the ‘fair play’ regulations, Barcelona is actively monitoring the transfer market.

The club is currently restricted by financial constraints and must adhere to the 1:1 rule, which requires them to balance their spending with their income.

Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, has expressed some optimism about resolving these financial issues but acknowledges that it will be a difficult process.

Journalist David Bernabeu has highlighted that Frimpong is one of the key players Barcelona is considering to strengthen their full-back position.

Barcelona’s offer was lower than expected

The club’s technical team is keeping a close eye on Frimpong’s situation, as there is a strong possibility he will leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

“€50 million value on ‘Transfermarkt’. This is a player that Flick has put on the table,” said Bernabeu about the operation.

“These are intentions, but right now they can’t sign anyone. I am told that Barça has made a first low offer. Frimpong, for the moment, wants to wait until the end of the European Championship.

“It seems that Bayer would be open to players entering the operation. And, in that sense, watch out because a few days ago there was an approach about Ansu Fati.

Proposal for an affordable loan or transfer. €10-15 million. Barça believes that he will not accept it because he wants to do the preseason with Flick,” he added.

It seems as if Barcelona are eager to bring Frimpong on board and have made an initial offer to Bayer Leverkusen, much lower than his actual value.

The player, however, will decide his future after the European Championship, but it must be noted that the deal might involve other players, with Bayer showing interest in Ansu Fati as part of the negotiations.
