Just a while ago, reports in Germany emerged claiming that Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement with Hansi Flick to replace Xavi Hernandez as manager.

The 59-year-old has emerged as the top candidate to take over from Xavi, who seems to have lost Joan Laporta’s confidence over the past week due to some comments he made.

A meeting was alleged to have taken place between Deco, Bojan, and Flick in London yesterday, even though some sources denied it.

Following that, it emerged that a verbal agreement had been reached for the German coach to replace Xavi.

Flick’s entourage denies claims

However, now, according to journalist Santi Ovalle, Hansi Flick’s entourage has denied that there is an agreement in place between him and Barcelona.

The 59-year-old’s camp insists that he will not ‘lift a finger’ or make any move towards the Barcelona job as long as Xavi Hernandez remains at the club.

Flick is eager to join Barcelona and is prepared to turn down overtures from the Premier League, where the likes of Chelsea had shown interest.

However, he is prepared to wait until the matter surrounding Xavi have resolved and there is a vacancy at the club before finalising the deal with the Blaugrana.

What about Xavi?

Xavi, for his part, is waiting for a meeting with Laporta & co. based on which his fate will be decided.

As per reports, it will take place next week, with the likes of Deco, Bojan, and Rafa Yuste also expected to be a part of it.

Deco will be submitting an end-of-season technical report assessing Barcelona’s campaign and based on it, Xavi’s continuity will be decided.
