Hansi Flick, the new manager of FC Barcelona, is known for his focus on physical training, meaning that the players are going through some very tough training routines.

Interestingly, Flick’s methods are being compared to those of former manager Luis Enrique, according to a report from AS.

It must be noted that Flick took over the team on July 10, and since then, the squad has already completed a whopping 13 training sessions.

These sessions have been divided into four double sessions, with only two days off. The players will get their second day off this Sunday.

What’s the comparison?

On the first day, Flick made a small concession by cancelling the afternoon training session, but since then, he has strictly followed the training plan.

The focus on physical training has been so intense that players say they have not seen this level of physical effort since Enrique’s time.

Next week, the team will continue with this rigorous training schedule under the supervision of Julio Tous. They will have two more double sessions and only one day off on Saturday.

By the time they leave for their tour in the United States, the first team will have completed twenty training sessions.

Flick does not even have full squad

For now, Flick is working with a small group of just 12 first-team players. He has been filling in the gaps with players from the youth team.

Some of the team’s international stars like Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen will join the squad on Monday, and by the end of the week, Ter Stegen, Gündogan, and Raphinha will also be back.

In the dressing room, the players are noticing the high intensity that Flick has brought to their training sessions. This reflects the German style of training, which Flick exemplifies.

The training sessions are not very long, but they are very intense, and Flick never stops pushing the players. This intensity was a key factor in building the successful Bayern Munich team that won multiple trophies under Flick.
