Barcelona began their pre-season training two weeks ago on July 10, with new manager Hansi Flick calling up several young talents from the club’s academy in the absence of a large number of first-team stars.
Young talents like Marc Casado, Hector Fort and Marc Bernal were always expected to be involved in the pre-season camp with the senior setup this summer, but there were a few surprise names as well like the Fernandez cousins – Toni and Guille.
Flick surprised by Toni and Guille Fernandez
Now, Alex Pintanel reports that manager Hansi Flick has been pleasantly surprised by the performances of both Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez in pre-season thus far.
Guille, 16, is regarded as the next best thing coming through La Masia after Lamine Yamal and already broke the latter’s record to become the youngest player to feature for Barça Atletic last season.

Meanwhile, Toni, who also turned 16 years old recently, is also held in very high regard within the club.
A centre-forward by trade, the youngster has already been playing at an age group higher than his level and making a tangible impact with his goalscoring prowess.
Both Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez recently signed new contracts with Barcelona after having turned 16 years old which made them eligible to pen their first professional deals.
The Fernandez cousins have seemingly left a positive impression on Flick thus far in pre-season and will be hoping to earn a place on the flight to the US.
