Thiago Alcantara was a marquee inclusion into Hansi Flick’s coaching staff earlier this summer.

The German tactician needed someone who knew the club well and could help with not only tactical integration but also add a layer of trust and confidence in the dressing room.

Thiago, who retired earlier in the summer, was the perfect match. And sure enough, the Spaniard has worked closely with Flick to help Barcelona prepare for the season ahead.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder has been a great presence in the dressing room, adding more belief to the setup while his tactical knowledge and linguistic prowess have helped Flick settle in quickly.

Thiago to leave in September

However, as reported by SPORT, Thiago had only promised Flick to help out in the initial stages of his tenure at Barcelona.

To be precise, Thiago’s commitment to Flick only stood for three months. That means the Spaniard is set to part ways with Hansi Flick and Barcelona after the month of September.

Thiago will leave to pursue his own future – a life after retirement. Many expect him to kickstart his own coaching career.

Given the way the likes of Thiago Motta and Xabi Alonso have been successful in the early stages of their coaching careers, there is no reason why Thiago should not follow suit.

Thiago has already received good feedback during his time at Barcelona and could take up a role in a smaller club.

However, for the immediate future, Thiago is likely to take a break and enjoy some time with his family, before considering his coaching future.
