According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the new Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, is set to meet with the sporting director, Deco, today at the Ciutat Esportiva.

This meeting will kick off their efforts to outline the pre-season plans and finalize the squad for the upcoming season.

Starting today, Flick will be working from his new office in Barcelona and as the German coach begins his role as the head coach of the first team, he will need to make several important decisions.

It is said that Flick will not only focus on reshaping the team but will also set the daily routines for his players. He is eager to work intensely, although many international players will be unavailable in the weeks leading up to their trip to the United States.

Issues and matters Flick will look into

One of Flick’s first tasks is to finalize the pre-season schedule. This includes setting start dates for training, planning trips, organizing the tour of the United States, and arranging training sessions before they leave for Orlando.

It is to be noted that Xavi had set July 8 as the first day of training ahead of the pre-season and Flick will decide whether to keep this date or change it.

Considering the team plans to depart for the United States on July 28, Flick aims to use the 20-day period to familiarize himself with the players, especially those from the reserve team who will not be involved in international duty.

Meanwhile, it is said that he wants to have a detailed schedule for when the players who are on international duty will return to the squad.

Plenty of other things for Flick to oversee

Flick hopes that as many players as possible can travel to the United States, but some may join the team during the tour since Barcelona will be in Orlando from July 28 to 31, then in Baltimore until the end of the tour.

They will make a round trip to New York on August 3 and 4 to play the traditional summer Clasico against Real Madrid. During these phases, some players will join the team, while others might be away at the Olympics.

It is to be noted that under Xavi, the club had already planned most of the tour’s agenda.

The dates for friendlies against Manchester City, Real Madrid, and AC Milan have been set, but there may be minor adjustments regarding events and training sessions. Flick will need to approve the entire preseason plan with Deco.

Lastly, regarding squad remodelling, the new manager is well aware of the need to monitor the players who are out on loan, their potential return, and the possibility of them joining the team on tour.

Flick has expressed his interest in evaluating these players as well during the days before the tour, as these sessions could determine their future with the team.
