As the summer transfer window heats up, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is eagerly awaiting the return of Ansu Fati, the 21-year-old forward who has been sidelined with a foot injury since pre-season training.

Flick has recently expressed his optimism about the forward’s potential, stating, “I hope that when Ansu returns, he will show the same level as he did in pre-season. We have to take care of him,” said the manager as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

It must be noted that Ansu’s injury has cast a shadow over his future at the club, with speculation surrounding his departure. It has been reported that the player was impressive in training before his injury, showcasing his sharpness and potential.

In fact, the manager had promised him a chance to prove himself in the first team, viewing him as a viable alternative to Robert Lewandowski up front.

It has been noted that the arrival of another winger or forward could jeopardise Ansu’s position, leading him to consider an exit. Barcelona are keen on signing a left winger, with Federico Chiesa emerging as a top target

This development could persuade him to explore other options, especially given the competition for minutes in the middle from Pau Victor and Ferran Torres.

Barcelona’s efforts to offload non-essential players to raise funds in the transfer market have created uncertainty around his future.

The club has considered offers for several players, making it likely that they would be open to letting him go, either on loan or permanently. Previously, Sevilla have been linked, although their interest was contingent on not paying a significant portion of his wages.

As Ansu’s recovery continues, his future at Barcelona remains uncertain. Will he regain his pre-season form and secure a spot in Flick’s first team, or will the arrival of new players and the club’s transfer market manoeuvre push him towards the exit? Only time will tell.
