The Mediapro Studio has added an Apple TV+ exec to its burgeoning ranks in the North America.

Francesca Ricagni has been named Head of U.S. Hispanic Content at the Hard Truths and Official Competition company, which is headquartered in Spain but launched an L.A. base last year.

She was previously Creative Executive at Apple TV+ and further back worked at Amazon Studios and Reel One Entertainment. At Apple, she played a key role in projects such as Land of Women, starring Eva Longoria in one of her first Spanish-speaking lead roles, and worked on the Eugenio Derbez series Acapulco and Midnight Family, which came from Pablo Larráin’s production house.

In her new post, she’ll report to JC Acosta, Head of The Mediapro Studio US & Canada, and will be responsible for overseeing the creation and producion of content for Spanish-language television channels, operators and streaming platforms in North America.

The Mediapro Studio, which is now led by Marta Ezpeleta following Maria Fernandez Espeso’s recent promotion, is already well embedded in Spanish-language content and its parent company has production bases through Latin America. It is also building a huge studio in Brooklyn.

The company said Ricagni’s hire would strengthen “the new structure of the company in the United States, where content for the US Hispanic market is of fundamental importance, and complements the recent announcement the production’s boost of English-language content.”

In October, Acosta unveiled an English-language slate of shows including projects with Melissa Leo, John Turturro and Juan José Campanella.

“I’m honored to welcome Francesca to The Mediapro Studio US/Canada leadership team,” said Acosta. “Her long experience, vast network of talent relationships and expertise on entertaining US Hispanic audiences, make her a perfect fit for our team.  She will undoubtedly drive great success to the studio and deliver outstanding content and results to our partners and audiences.”

“At such a transformative time in our industry, I am inspired to join the team at The Mediapro Studio US and Canada,” added Ricagni. “What a unique opportunity to tell rich, authentic stories that represent and resonate with the US Hispanic audience while captivating the world. Together with the rising and exceptional Hispanic talent, we’re excited to break new ground, showcasing our diverse, multi-layered experiences and creating content that celebrates our stories, culture, and unique perspectives, elevating them all on the global stage.”
