Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman says his nomination for tonight’s Ballon d’Or award was as a result of his hard work for Atalanta and Nigeria.
Lookman’s progress has seen him listed as one of 30 nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or, with the winner of the award for the world’s top footballer to be announced today in Paris.
Being the only African on the men’s shortlist added even more weight to his achievement.

However, speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, the Nigerian international stated that he’s delighted to be listed for the award.
“It’s obviously special being in the list. I have achieved great things for club and country. It’s been a defining year in terms of progress and steps taken which I’m very proud of.
This is just the start. Obviously, great things come with hard work, so, working hard is an important thing to me.”
