Harry Kane name-dropped Manchester United stalwart Raphael Varane when creating his ‘ultimate’ defender.
It was announced this afternoon following months of speculation that the Frenchman would indeed be leaving Old Trafford when his contract expires next month.
Ironically, he’s been linked with Bayern Munich over the past year, so there’s a slim chance the two players could end up lining up together next term.
Varane’s imminent exit has drawn mixed reactions from the fanbase, with some reasoning that his injury woes and £340,000-a-week wages are not sustainable to stick with long-term, and others concerned that United may come to rue the decision given his world-class abilities when available.
Why Kane chose Varane
Nevertheless, he’s certainly rated by Bayern’s talisman. In a TikTok with Goal, Kane was questioned on which players he would use to form a formidable, indomitable defender who’d be capable of stopping him from scoring.
When asked whom he’d use for speed, he responded: “Do you know who’s really quick? Varane.”
