Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich after spending 14 years at Tottenham and has revealed how Thomas Tuchel convinced him to sign.
The English striker got off to a great start with the Bavarians as he scored 22 goals in the first half of the season, equaling Robert Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in the first half of a season in the history of the Bundesliga. In conversation with Kicker, the England team captain also discussed the possibility of a return to the Premier League in the future, as he is only 47 goals away from becoming the top scorer of the English championship. He is currently at 260 goals, with Alan Shearer holding the record with 307 goals.
Speaking to Kicker about Tuchel’s influence on him (via GOAL Germany), Kane explains how his influence led him to turn down advances from PSG, Real Madrid and even Manchester United: “Thomas shared his ideas with me, told me where he saw me in the team, what we needed and how I could improve the team. He put a lot of effort into it and that impressed me. Thomas has excellent tactical ideas and knows how he wants to play. He brings a lot of energy and passion when he is in the locker room. I like to listen and learn. Thomas and I talk a lot about football, we talk about the matches and what he expects of me. Whether I let myself go further or stay higher because at the end of the day we want the same thing. »
He also spoke about his return to the Premier League: “I am proud of the number of goals in the Premier League, but breaking this record has never been my priority. The closer I got to the brand in recent years, the more I talked about it, of course, but we have to wait. Who knows what will happen in the future? I’m now at Bayern, I signed a four-year contract and I’m focusing on that. »
