Harry Kane “unhappy”, PSG on alert

Thomas Tuchel says striker Harry Kane is unhappy with the club’s current situation as Bayern Munich continue to suffer a string of poor results.

Kane enjoyed a prolific first season at Bayern, scoring 24 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches, but he failed to find the net in his team’s last two matches, against Bayern Leverkusen and Lazio. Defeats in those fixtures left Tuchel’s side five points off the top of the German top division table and in need of a return to the Champions League second leg if they are to qualify for the quarters of final. Tuchel admitted that Kane is unhappy with his teammates’ current situation and that they need to serve the England international better.

He told reporters: “Harry is on his own. He doesn’t need me. He is not satisfied with the connection during matches. We neither. I have rarely seen such a difference between training and matches. The way he scores in training, the way he takes his chances, it’s incredible. It’s world class. But we rarely find him in matches. He behaves like a captain. Everything is fine with him.

Kane unhappy, PSG in search of an attacker

Tuchel and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer both called on Bayern to serve Kane better ahead of the Lazio game, but the England international struggled again in a 1-0 defeat. Still, Tuchel is confident his team can turn things around. “It’s a strange situation. The atmosphere is obviously a little gloomy, because we were waiting for a reaction from us,” he added.

“That said, we only lost the first leg and we are not yet eliminated from the Champions League. We are all determined to turn things around. In my experience this can only be done on the training pitch, and that’s what we did yesterday. We will give everything to find the energy necessary to turn the tide.”

Bayern will try to revive on Sunday against Bochum, but could approach this match eight points behind the leader if Leverkusen wins at Heidenheim on Saturday. Tuchel’s team will be confident, however, since they won in September in the return match with a score of 7-0, with a hat-trick from Kane. As a reminder, PSG is looking for a scorer to replace Kylian Mbappé and has already courted Kane in the past.
