Harry Maguire is demanding a “big reaction” after Manchester United dropped three points on Saturday. Fulham came away from Old Trafford after stunning the hosts with a late winner in stoppage time.

Former Arsenal man Alex Iwobi scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Fulham snatched a 2-1 win over United in the Premier League.

The winning goal came just minutes after Harry Maguire’s equaliser. At that point, it looked like the centre-back had salvaged a point for the Reds.

United pushed on hoping for a winner themselves, but Fulham caught us on the counter attack for Iwobi’s winner.

The overall performance from United has rightly led to strong criticism.

Maguire is now demanding a big reaction from his teammates, after throwing away a four-game winning run in the league to dent our hopes of reaching the top four.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game in midweek,” Maguire told MUTV, as quoted by The42. “Our full focus is on that one. We’ve got to bounce back.

“A big reaction is needed. It’s going to be a tough game but we’ve got to go there and produce a performance like we did there last year.”

The Reds are back in action when they travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth-round on Wednesday. Then it’s a trip to Man City in the Premier League next weekend.

Maguire added: “This season we’ve scored numerous late goals, numerous late winners. So we had great belief that we were going to go on to win the game.

“Obviously in hindsight, now we can all sit here and say that we should have been more cautious. We were far too naive.

“We can look back and I’m sure we’ll assess it in terms of areas that we can improve on but, ultimately, over the 90 minutes we didn’t do enough to win the game.”
