Not all secrets need to be told straight away, right?

That’s certainly the case for former Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham boss Harry Redknapp.

If his revelation wasn’t already known then it is most certainly in the public domain now and wife Sandra might just have something to say about it.

Horse racing enthusiast Redknapp was recently given a proposition that he initially turned down but after an unusual exchange with his cleaner, the 77-year-old’s intuition kicked in - which saw him splash out on a new horse.

“I bought a horse last week,” Redknapp revealed on talkSPORT. “I got a message from a fella called Graeme McPherson. He's a good trainer, he trains down near Cheltenham.

“He sent me a message saying he’s got a nice horse for sale called ‘Yellow Car’. I thought no, I don't want to buy another horse.

“I get a knock at the door, the girl comes round who does our cleaning.

“She says ‘hello Harry, I’ve took my car in for a service, look what they’ve given me, this yellow car.’

“I thought no, this is an omen. So I went back on the phone and bought the bleeding horse!"

But there was one glaring omission from Redknapp’s story...

“I hope the missus isn’t listening because she doesn’t know about this one yet,” he later added.

It is the latest addition to Redknapp's collection of horses - with the football manager enjoying great success in racing as an owner.

Yellow Car is expected to be in action on Friday at Cheltenham Festival.

It remains to be seen whether Sandra banishes Redknapp to the doghouse this weekend but he will be hoping he has access to a television to catch the upcoming FA Cup fifth-round ties.

The competition holds special memories for Redknapp after he guided Portsmouth to glory in the 2008 final against Cardiff.

Nwankwo Kanu’s 37th-minute winner was enough to separate the two unlikely finalists and earn Redknapp his only major honour as a manager.

This weekend’s fixture hand clubs a golden opportunity to book their spot in the quarter-finals.

Despite that, there are suggestions that some clubs will use the fifth round ties to hand game time to their fringe players.

Aston Villa, who are in Champions League action in midweek, are expected to heavily rotate their starting XI ahead of Friday night’s visit of Cardiff, a decision Redknapp disagrees with.

Redknapp also gave his tip as to who he believes could lift this year’s FA Cup and it’s fair to say that it would be a huge upset should his prediction come to fruition.

“I couldn’t understand any manager at this stage playing a weakened team and saying we’re gonna give the lads who are not playing a go,” he added.

“Play your best team, go to Wembley, what a day out for your fans and for Villa it would be a great day out, they are certainly one of the favourites.

“Newcastle are still in it but I like Bournemouth. I think they've got a big chance. They’ve got a home draw with Wolves. Not an easy one but Wolves are in a relegation battle.

“I think Bournemouth could go all the way this year.”
