Harvey Weinstein Diagnosed with Bone Marrow Cancer Amid Several Other Health Issues

Harvey Weinstein is battling cancer.

A rep for the disgraced movie producer and former studio exec has confirmed that Weinstein has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, a form of bone marrow cancer.

The news comes months after Weinstein battled other health issues, including an emergency heart surgery that he almost didn’t survive.

Weinstein’s spokesperson Juda Engelmayer told Variety, “Craig Rothfeld, Mr. Weinstein’s authorized legal healthcare representative in New York State, expresses profound dismay at the speculation surrounding Mr. Weinstein’s medical condition. It is both troubling and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become a subject of public discourse. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will offer no further comment.”

Weinstein was initially sentenced to 23 years in prison after being found guilty on two of five felony counts from rape charges in New York. He was then sentenced to another 16 years in person after being found guilty of three of seven charges in a Los Angeles trial. The sentences were to be served separately.

The New York conviction was later overturned because of “egregious errors” of procedure and a retrial was tentatively set for November 12, 2024. He remains in prison because of the L.A. conviction.
